Our guide to candle safety &care

Here at LUNA, we want to create you a happy and healthy home but of course, safety should always come first. It is essential to us that you get the best experience from our products. This page tells you all about how to care for your LUNA along with our safety first tips.

Safety first!

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended

  • When burning your candles, always ensure they are kept far away from other heat sources, drafts, and anything flammable.

  • Always make sure candles are well out of reach of children and pets

  • At LUNA, we do not advise using a 'candle warmer' or placing your candle on any heated surface

  • When your LUNA has approx.. 0.5 inches of wax left in the bottom of the jar, do not continue to burn. Continuing to burn a candle with such little wax in the bottom of the jar could case heat pressure on the glass jar

  • Do not pick up a candle jar until all wax has solidified at room temperature

Candle Care

  • When lighting your LUNA for the first time, burn until you have an even wax pool at the top. This usually takes approx.. 2 hours but is crucial for the longevity of your LUNA. Ensuring you have an even wax pool will prevent ‘tunnelling’ in your candle and ensure you get the most from this product.

  • We advise to use specialist wick trimmers to trim your wick after every burn. Trimming the wick helps the candle to burn at a much more effective and efficient rate. This means the candle will burn with an even wax pool and will not have any excess wick in the wax.

Note - Only trim the wick after the candle has fully cooled and the wax is at room temperature.

  • Burn for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.

  • When your LUNA is not in use, always put the lid back on to ensure the oils and wax are preserved.

Note – do not put the lid on the candle if it has been recently lit, wait for the wax to reach room temperature.

  • Here are some points of how you should always care for your candles, to keep them in the best condition possible:

  • When you aren't using your candle or melts, store them in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct sunlight. If your candle comes with a lid, store your candle with the lid on.

  • Storing candles and melts for too long can affect the scent, so we suggest enjoying your products within 12 months of purchase.

  • If your candle and melts are not stored in a cool, dry, dark place, it could be subject to excessive fading and discoloration
